Graduate Engineers.
We're looking for graduate engineers to join the Auckland team in Grafton. Real plant work from day one, paired with a senior engineer who answers questions in person, on jobs where the engineering has real consequences.
The role
You'll work on operating industrial plant across dairy, meat, energy and refrigeration: the kind of multi-discipline jobs where the engineering matters and the plant has to keep running while you work on it.
The pathway is structured. Year one you shadow a senior engineer on live projects: site visits, design reviews, commissioning. You see the full job, not a slice of it. Year two you run your own scopes under supervision, with the senior engineer backing you on site. Several of our current senior engineers came through Dobbie as graduates.
What you'll get to do
- Shadow a senior engineer on live projects: site visits, design reviews, commissioning.
- Get on site early. The engineer who designs the job is the one who sees it through, and you learn that from year one.
- Work across disciplines and sectors rather than being pigeonholed into one slice of a project.
- Write clear reports and calculations, with a senior engineer reviewing your work.
- Progress toward CPEng. We fund the assessment, write the references, and structure the work to cover the competencies.
Your profile
- A degree in mechanical, chemical or process engineering, or close.
- You like good, old-fashioned engineering done properly, and you want to learn it from the people who do it.
- You can write a good report and email without leaning on AI to do the thinking.
